The Netherlands is this year's official focus-country of Africa Rising Music Conference (ARMC), taking place 24-25 of May in Johannesburg. As part of the focus, Dutch Music Export is hosting a live music showcase, as well as a studio collaboration project between South-African and Dutch artists & producers. On top of that, DME is taking 15 Dutch music professionals to the music conference.
Live Music Showcase
ARMC attendees are primed to enjoy world-class performances from the pivotal talents of Eritrea-born vocalist Rimon, Ghanaian artist based in the South East of Amsterdam, BnnyHunna and South African-Dutch singer-songwriter Joya Mooi.
RIMON RIMON quickly established herself as one of the more promising voices in RnB out there - amassing millions of streams, performing throughout Europe and Asia and being covered by i-D, BBC, Pitchfork, Vogue, Complex - as well as a highly anticipated COLORS session.
Bnnyhunna Bnnyhunna wants to bring new perspectives in the contemporary status quo. His music lives in a wide soundscape, heavily influenced by genres like hip-hop, R&B, jazz, soul, afro and hip hop and legends like Fela Kuti, Kanye West, Youssef Dayes, Pharell and John Coltrane. More info
Joya Mooi Uniting hazy sonic tales with sweet melodies and powerful lyrics, Joya has has created her own hybrid of trappy R&B and dream pop, receiving widespread support from BBC Radio 1Xtra to CLASH and Okayplayer, as well as earning international nominations for her striking music video Bitter Parts.
Studio collaboration project
As part of a studio collaboration project, DME is taking three additional top producers & artists to the event to work together and collaborate with South-African talent.
