From Monday the 11th till Saturday the 16th SXSW Music Festival will be taking place in Austin, Texas.

Néomí, the stage name of folk-pop singer-songwriter Neomi Speelman, creates heartfelt stories set to dreamy soundscapes inspired by folk greats like Bon Iver, Ben Howard, Bob Dylan, and Phoebe Bridgers. Her second EP 'after' received acclaim from Sunday Times, The Independent, The Line of Best Fit, NOTION, Songwriting Magazine, WONDERLAND, Record of the Day, and more. Her new single 'your girl' showcases a dream-pop-inspired style, a departure from her acoustic roots. With her debut album set for May 2024, Néomí is evolving her sound. Steve Lamacq at 6 Music played 'your girl,' and NPO 3FM in the Netherlands added it to their playlist, with support from DMY, Earmilk, and Record. Néomí's participation in SXSW is facilitated through Music Matters' Dutch Drop Off Program, which is based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, highlighting their commitment to nurturing emerging talent and providing artists with a global platform. This collaboration further solidifies Néomí's presence in the music industry and opens new horizons for her music.
NAGASAKI SWIM (Folk)

Everything grows on Nagasaki Swim’s sophomore album. Two years after their debut The Mirror, the ever-evolving project of Rotterdam-based songwriter Jasper Boogaard returns with a broadened scope and an even more collaborative spirit. Band members new-and-old, comrades, and alt-country compatriots like Mike Brenner (Songs: Ohia) and Molly Germer (Alex G) all get their time to shine on Boogaard's expansive ode to the garden-variety, to the bad days, to changing in a world that’s changing around you.
Everything Grows sees Boogaard heading out into the world and finding his processes reflected in the trees, the birds, and the changing climate. It instills even the more laborious arrangements, some of them recorded across two continents, with an innate airiness, reminiscent of Big Thief, Florist, and John Prine. As if out of the clear blue sky. With the lap and pedal steel promoted to a starring role, the added trumpet, and the heightened pathos of ‘Window’, ‘Eternal’ and ‘The Weight Pt. 2’, Boogaard's love of both jaunty country-folk and Elverumesque naturalism feel more aligned than ever.

Expressive yet thoughtful, abrasive yet melodious: Rotterdam’s Library Card are a band of contrasts. This is reflected in the group’s structure, the band being a tight-knit unit of four entirely different characters. The quartet started out in 2021, and it doesn’t seem too far-fetched to state that a little part of that period’s agitation has latched itself to the band’s music, which restlessly fluctuates from angular post-punk to magnificent post-rock and fast-paced garage. Even in a city that’s known for its wayward guitar music, Library Card has quickly become a standout.
Spearheaded by Lot van Teylingen, whose spoken word alternates between sardonic and sincere in a matter of seconds, Library Card leave a lot of room in their music in which their members can manifest themselves equally, from Emre Karayalçin’s unorthodox, eye-catching rhythms to Kat Kalkman’s driving bass lines and Mitchell Quitz’s seemingly shape-shifting guitar performances. To call each of them a cog in a machine would do a disservice to Library Card’s humane outlook on what being in a band means, but it’s simply impossible to elevate one element of their spellbinding songs above another.
IRIS JEAN (Pop)

Iris Jean is writing the soundtrack of her life, with each song representing a different chapter of self discovery, love, loss, hope and heartbreak. After generating an online following of 150k+ followers and 2M+ likes on TikTok and with her first original single releasing February 2024, the 21 year old Netherlands-based artist is set to perform her debut US live shows surrounding SXSW.

The Vices present a contrasting mix of Britpop and Surf Rock. Imagine Cage The Elephant and The Strokes having a love-child who happens to possess a live-energy that reminds one of the early Chili Peppers. These are some big names, but above all The Vices always stay true to themselves. With child-like fun and relentless ambition they can easily play tight and explosive or playful and danceable. This all resulted in their club tours immediately selling out, and Nothing But Thieves taking them along as their support act to the big stages of Europe several times. Big stages, small stages, moshing or dancing, it doesn’t matter: The Vices will blow your socks off with a huge smile!
