Professionals & creatives | Casablanca, with planned visits to Rabat

12–15 April 2027

Dutch Music Export is preparing a creative mission to Morocco in collaboration with BumaStemra and Avalon Music. The mission will take place from 12 to 15 April 2027, with Casablanca as its base and planned visits to Rabat.

The mission aims to strengthen creative and professional collaboration between the Dutch and Moroccan music sectors. We invite music professionals and creatives to meet Moroccan partners, develop new music and business relationships, and explore opportunities for long-term collaboration.

Building on the exchange during Connecting Sounds: North Africa, participants will meet the people behind the music, learn how the market operates and explore what they can build together.

Why Morocco?

The Moroccan music market offers opportunities across creative collaboration, live music, publishing, promotion, sync and brand partnerships. During the mission, participants will explore how these opportunities connect to their work and ambitions.

A realistic understanding of the market is also essential. Payment options, digital revenues and support structures within the music sector face challenges. Business practices and processes may differ from those participants are familiar with in the Netherlands.

The mission therefore calls for curiosity, flexibility and a willingness to invest time in relationships. We are looking for participants who want to share knowledge, learn from local partners and work together to create the conditions for sustainable music careers and business collaboration.

Who can apply?

Creatives

This route is intended for artists, songwriters and producers who want to collaborate with Moroccan music makers. Creative exchange, writing and producing together are central to the planned programme.

We are looking for creatives with a distinct artistic profile, a demonstrable body of work and an interest in mutual collaboration. Tell us what you would like to explore, what you can contribute and how you could continue a collaboration after the mission.

The creative programme is expected to include writing and studio sessions, listening and feedback sessions, and shared networking activities with music professionals.

Music Professionals

This route is intended for professionals working in live music, management, publishing, labels and distribution who want to explore concrete opportunities for collaboration with Morocco. Professionals working in PR, sync and music marketing are also welcome to apply with a relevant motivation.

Please explain which creatives, projects or expertise you bring, which partners you would like to meet and how you intend to build on the contacts made during the mission.

The professional programme will combine market introductions, company visits and targeted meetings with shared activities with the creatives.

What can you expect?

A four-day programme is being developed, combining shared activities with dedicated elements for both participant groups. Planned elements include:

  • an introduction to the Moroccan music market, covering local scenes, audiences, media and business relationships;

  • company and studio visits in Casablanca and potentially Rabat;

  • targeted meetings with local music professionals and creatives;

  • writing and studio sessions for creatives, including shared listening and feedback sessions;

  • practical sessions on contracts, rights, publishing, taxation, banking and international payments;

  • discussions on distribution, streaming, promotion and audience development;

  • exchange on sync and brand partnerships, including potential connections with the telecom sector;

  • an exploration of music, sport and entertainment in the lead-up to the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host;

  • a closing session in which participants define concrete next steps.

The programme and participating local partners are still being developed. Opportunities for releases, commissions or performances will be explored, but participation does not guarantee these outcomes.

What do we ask of participants?

We ask for a clear motivation, active participation and a willingness to follow up on collaborations after the mission. When selecting the delegation, we will consider the quality and relevance of your work, your fit with the mission and what you can contribute to the exchange.

Active participation in the full mission programme is required.

Participants are responsible for arranging and paying for their own flights. These costs are considered their investment in taking part in the mission and developing their international network and opportunities.
