Music styles categorized under "Music of Black Origin" (MOBO) have been taking the world by storm for years. They have achieved massive success not only in America but also in the Netherlands, where MOBO is now breaking records. The MOBO music industry continues to evolve rapidly, with impressive international achievements by Dutch music producers, songwriters, and artists. To support this progress, Epitome Entertainment, with the backing of Dutch Music Export, Buma Cultuur, Buma Stemra, the Dutch consulates in Atlanta and New York, and in collaboration with U.S. partner State of Georgia, is organizing a unique mission to Atlanta, the birthplace of hip-hop, from October 23 to 30, 2024.
What does the misison ential?
This exclusive mission offers a unique opportunity for Dutch music producers to connect with their American counterparts. The mission includes various writing camps with successful American producers and artists, based on briefings from major and independent labels. In addition, the program features networking receptions and events with professionals from the American music industry, where valuable connections can be made.
Why Atlanta?
Atlanta is a major hub for American hip-hop. Recently, the Dutch King and Queen visited this vibrant music city and explored the famous Patchwerk Recording Studios, accompanied by Grammy Award winners Troy Taylor and Needlz, hit producer Smurv from Curaçao, and the Dutch artists Frenna and Rotjoch. This visit led to successful collaborations and new music placements for Dutch artists. Building on this momentum, Epitome’s mission offers a unique opportunity to "strike while the iron is hot."
Who is this mission for?
This mission is aimed at Dutch music producers active in MOBO genres and affiliated with Buma Stemra. There are six spots available for talented producers. In addition to Dutch participants, a number of producers from Curaçao will also take part. Interested producers are asked to submit up to five recent compositions of their work, a CV of recent international collaborations, and a short motivation statement explaining why they want to be part of this mission.
