Open Call: Sync Mission Montréal

Montréal is the kind of city where music constantly takes on new forms: on stage, on screen, in games, campaigns and in the conversations in between. In November 2026, Buma Music in Motion and Dutch Music Export will travel to Montréal with a small Dutch delegation.
We are looking for around 10 Dutch music professionals who do not only want to see what is happening, but want to open something themselves: conversations, opportunities, collaborations and new routes towards Canada and North America.
This mission is intended for people and companies working at the intersection of music and image. Creators, representatives and initiators with a good story, a relevant catalogue, a strong portfolio or a clear international ambition. So not a large trade caravan, but a compact group that fits the market, Montréal and each other in terms of content.
WHY MONTRÉAL?
Montréal is an interesting creative hub: French-speaking and English-speaking, European and North American at the same time, with strong connections to music, film, television, games and advertising.
For Dutch sync and music-for-media professionals, this is a promising environment. Not only to present yourself or your catalogue, but also to better understand how the Canadian market works, which parties are active and where there is room for Dutch music, creators and expertise.
In November, M for Montréal and superVISION will also take place. M for Montréal is an international showcase festival where new musical talent and the professionals around them come together. superVISION is the professional programme within this event that focuses on music supervision and sync. Both take place from 18 to 21 November 2026 and annually attract an international network of artists, managers, labels, publishers, music supervisors, agents and media to the city.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
The programme is still in development, but we are working on a mission that includes, among other things:
participation in relevant parts of M for Montréal, depending on profile
participation in relevant parts of superVISION, depending on profile
a programme compiled by BMIM and Dutch Music Export with contacts and partners in Montréal
meetings with music supervisors, publishers, labels, managers, agencies and other music and media professionals
company visits or small-scale sessions at relevant organisations
curated meetings and/or one-on-one conversations
preparation in the Netherlands on positioning, pitching and follow-up
possibly a Dutch networking moment, such as a breakfast, drinks or roundtable
where relevant, a connection with film festivals taking place around the same period, such as RIDM and image+nation
The final content depends on the programme in Montréal, the availability of local partners and the composition of the delegation. We are building the mission in such a way that participants do not only meet many people, but above all the right people.
WHO IS THIS OPEN CALL FOR?
We invite Dutch professionals who are active in music, sync and media. This includes:
film, television, game and media composers
sync managers
music supervisors
publishers
artist managers with an interest in sync for their roster
music companies and agencies with sync-relevant repertoire
representatives of Dutch catalogues, artists or composers with international ambitions
We are looking for participants who are professionally active and can clearly explain why Montréal is relevant to their work at this moment. This may be because you already have sync experience, because you represent a strong catalogue, because you want to grow internationally as a composer, or because your company wants to build concrete relationships in Canada and North America.
For composers, experience with music for image is a plus. More importantly, you must be able to present your work clearly to international professionals and know which direction you want to take.
SELECTION
The delegation consists of approximately 10 participants. For the selection, we will look at, among other things:
professional experience and track record
relevance to sync, film, TV, advertising, games, trailers, podcasts or other media
international ambition and preparation
quality and pitchability of repertoire, catalogue or portfolio
concrete goals for participation
willingness to actively participate in preparation, meetings and follow-up
Buma Stemra membership for the composers, producers and artists who are represented
We are not looking for perfect CVs, but for profiles that fit this mission: professional, curious, well prepared and ready to enter into international conversations. The participants will be selected by an external selection committee.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
The mission will take place between 17 and 21 November 2026, around M for Montréal.Exact dates, costs, badge options, possible support and participation conditions will be announced as soon as possible. Please bear in mind that participants will pay their own contribution for travel, accommodation and/or accreditation.
